5. Internationalisation Options

This option is used to choose your language, character set, timezone, and keyboard layout.

  1. Start at the raspi-config main menu.

  2. Select Internationalisation Options. The Internationalisation Options sub-menu is displayed.

    I1. Change Locale

    This option is used to setup your language and region settings to match your location.
    The default System Locale is English / Great Britain / UTF-8.

    1. Start at the Internationalisation Options sub-menu.

    2. Select Change Locale. The Configuring Locales page is displayed.

    3. Add (and/or remove) locales to be generated for use with the system. When done, select Ok. The System default locale page will be displayed.

    4. Select the desired system default locale and select Ok. Display is returned to the Internationalisation Options sub-menu.

    I2. Change Timezone

    This option is used to setup your timezone to match your location.

    The default Timezone is UTC.

    1. Start at the Internationalisation Options sub-menu.

    2. Select Change Timezone. The Geographic area page will be displayed.

    3. Select the geographic area in which you live and select Ok. A list of cities and regions will be displayed.

    4. Select the city or region corresponding to your time zone and select Ok. Display is returned to the Internationalisation Options sub-menu.

    I3. Change Keyboard Layout

    This option is used to setup your keyboard layout to match your keyboard.

    The default keyboard type is determined automatically at boot.

    1. Start at the Internationalisation Options sub-menu.

    2. Select Change Keyboard Layout. The Keyboard Model page will be displayed.

    3. Select the Keyboard Model of your keyboard and select Ok. The Keyboard Layout page will be displayed.

    4. Select the Keyboard Layout of your keyboard and select Ok. The AltGr Modifier Key page will be displayed.

    5. Select the AltGr Modifier Key for your keyboard and select Ok. The Compose Key page will be displayed.

    6. Select the Compose Key for your keyboard and select Ok. The Ctrl+Alt+Backspace Combination page will be displayed.

    7. Determine whether you want to use the Ctrl+Alt+Backspace key combination to terminate X-Server sessions, and select Yes (default) or No. Display is returned to the Internationalisation Options sub-menu.

  1. I’m in the process of installing UniFi on a RasPi but will go to bed now (after 1AM) and finish tomorrow. Later I want to install it on an OrangePiPC if I can.
