Community

This section provides instructions for downloading, installing and launching Visual Studio Community 2015.

Visual Studio Community 2015 is free for individual developers, open source development, academic research, education and small professional teams.

While the Professional and Enterprise editions will only work as a 30 day trial (for evaluation purposes), the Community edition is free and does not require a license.

Download

Visual Studio Community 2015 is freely downloadable from Microsoft’s Visual Studio website.

You have the choice of downloading the ISO image or the Online Web installer. The Online Web installer has a number of advantages over the ISO image version:

  • Only downloads the features you choose to install;
  • Downloads the latest versions and updates automatically; and
  • Can be used to build an updated installation source for offline use.

ISO SHA-1 Values

The following table contains the SHA-1 cryptographic values to verify the integrity of Visual Studio Community 2015 ISO files downloaded from the Visual Studio website.

Use the Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier tool to compute SHA-1 values to compare against the values in this table. If the values don’t match, your download may be corrupted and you should download the file again.
