This post provides comprehensive instructions on how to use the command-line-based Server Configuration Tool (sconfig) to configure and manage common aspects of a Windows Server 2012 / 2012 R2 / 2016 installation.

The Server Configuration Tool is available on both Server Core and Server with a GUI (Desktop Experience) installations.
You must be a member of the Administrators group to use the Server Configuration Tool.

To start the Server Configuration Tool, execute the following command from an elevated Command Prompt.

sconfig

The Server Configuration Tool will start.
