The final step is to execute the Bash installer. 

Before proceeding, you must have already restarted your computer after enabling Developer Mode and installing the Windows Subsystem for Linux in the previous steps.
  1. Press Windows Windows + X to open the Quick Link menu, and then select Command Prompt from the available menu options. A Command Prompt window will be displayed.

  2. At the Command Prompt, type bash and press Enter. The following messages will be displayed.

    This will install Ubuntu on Windows, distributed by Canonical
    and licensed under its terms available here:
    https://aka.ms/uowterms
    
    Type "y" to continue:
  3. Type Y and press Enter to continue. The Bash components will be downloaded and installed, during which the following messages will be displayed.
    Downloading from the Windows Store... 100%
    Extracting filesystem, this will take a few minutes...
    Please create a default UNIX user account. The username does not need to match your Windows username.
    For more information visit: https://aka.ms/wslusers
    Enter new UNIX username:
  4. Type root and press Enter. The following messages will be displayed.
    Installation successful!
    The environment will start momentarily...

    A new Bash on Ubuntu on Windows shortcut will have been created in the Start Menu.

  5. Type apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y and press Enter to download and install the latest Ubuntu package updates.

Bash on Ubuntu on Windows is now installed.
