How to display your LEGO® Minifigures using IKEA® RIBBA Frames

This post provides full instructions on how to display your LEGO® Minifigure Collection using the IKEA® RIBBA 23×23cm (9×9″) Frame.

I certainly wasn’t the first to come up with the idea of using the IKEA® RIBBA 23×23cm for displaying LEGO® Minifigures. However, when I decided to frame my collection using this method I was unable to find a good clear guide on what parts were needed, where to find them, and how to assemble everything. All I could find was the type of frame to use, several fan made backgrounds to suit, and to supa glue inverted slope bricks on as mounting stands.

After months of research and even creating my own LEGO® Minifigure Backgrounds, I have documented a process for assembling IKEA® RIBBA frames as LEGO® Minifigure display cases. This guide covers everything from buying the frame, which additional LEGO® mounting parts you need and where to buy them, how to print the backgrounds, right through to a step-by-step on building and fitting your Minifigures into the finished frames.

The following background images are provided for PERSONAL USE ONLY. The LEGO Group of companies do not sponsor, authorise or endorse this fan created artwork or Internet site in any way.
As such, these images must not be sold, traded or swapped for gain or profit.
Unfortunately LEGO's Fair Play terms prohibit me from including the LEGO® logo on these background images, however, you may simply add the logo yourself before printing.

  1. Hey Chris, great job.
I use your backgrounds and it looks great.
Will you also create a background for series 17?
And I missed the background for the german soccer team as I’m from Germany. 🙂

    Thanks again and best regarda

    1. Hi Arne,

      Thanks 🙂

Yes, Series 17 background will be coming in a couple of weeks (hopefully), just waiting to get them myself!

I knew someone would eventually ask about the German Soccer Team! I don’t currently have them, but let me see what I can do 😉

      Kind Regards,

  2. This is fantastic! I’ve been searching all over for a way to display my sons collection and this is just perfect. Thank you for the specific details and high-resolution graphics! Hope you’ll be posting additional series backgrounds as they are released. Thanks again!

    1. Hi Brandon,

I’m glad you found these backgrounds useful 🙂

I absolutely intend to keep posting backgrounds for new series as they are released. Check back in a couple of weeks and I should have a background for Series 17 available (release date is 5th May 2017).

      Kind Regards,

    1. Hi Manuel,

No worries! I’m lucky enough to have an A3 Laser printer at home, so I was able to print them myself. Your best option is probably to get them printed by a photo or sign store.

      Thanks for your comments! 🙂

  3. Hey! Great job, they look very nice!! I’m actually putting all my minifigs in frames. How did you print the background pictures? I only have a A4-printer, but the pictures are 23x23cm. :O
